FACILITY DESCRIPTION
Facility Description
  • Completed in April 1994 by the Defense Nuclear Agency, the $6.5M dollar facility can simulate both the airblast and thermal environments of a nuclear detonation. It is capable of conducting 30 experiments annually in support of tri-service & other agency programs with nuclear suvivability criteria requirements. Approximately nine work-days are needed for facility preperation between experiments.
  • In 1995 the facility will transition from limited experiment usage to its fully designed experiment workload capability.
  • Located in the northwest corner of White Sands Missle Range, new mexico, the simulator is approximately 2.3 miles southwest of Stallion Range Center.
  • The 20-meter diameter, 170-meter long, concrete shock tube contains an integrated Thermal Radiation Source (TRS) system for productin the thermal test environment
