Microsoft Windows Development Services |
We have over 15 years of combined experience in developing Microsoft Windows based
applications. Dr. Nelson has been doing Windows development since Version 1.1 was released
in the mid-1980s and Mr. Bouvier has been formally trained in the Microsoft Foundation
Classes. We are experienced in not only the mechanics and subtleties of Windows
development, but also in the elements of the human-computer interface which is critical to
developing useable applications in a graphical user environment. Our experience base and
qualifications are normally only available at companies like Microsoft.
Dr. Nelson is intimately familiar with the Windows API structure and has written
hundreds of thousands of lines of Windows code. His experience covers all aspects of the
Windows implementation, including real-time services. His work over the years has been
primarily in the development of niche applications that deal with large data sets.
Applications that can handle thousands to millions of data points in a user interactive
manner are not readily available. His formal education in the physical sciences has
allowed him to quickly grasp what is needed to address even the most complex problems.
Specific examples of our work (with FREE samples) are:
- FlexiDex (tm):
Tired of fighting the complexities of expensive personal information managers when all you
really want is quick access to a phone number? Take a look at FlexiDex: A Simple Rolodex System that Works for
Windows 95 or Windows NT.
- ADCoS: The Automated Data Collection System was
written to be a highly robust and extensible data logging application. This application,
originally written for Windows 1.1 and migrated over the years to Windows 3.1 where the
development has currently ended, incorporates a multitude of sophisticated algorithms for
such things as graphing, incorruptible file storage, and user interaction. A more detailed
description, as well as a demonstration version of the program, can be found on the ADCoS web page.
- THRIFT: The Thermal Radiation Information
Format software was written for the Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA) in order to address their
specific data storage, rendering, and analysis needs. The THRIFT program implements the
THRIFT data file format developed by Dr. Nelson and is discussed in more detail in the THRIFT web page. The THRIFT program deals with
multiple channels of data in large data sets, often with a variable sampling rate. These
elements are hidden from the user who simply sees a continuous data set that can be
graphed, reduced, tabulated, and trimmed. The program is also designed to deal with the
batch mode processing requirements that are typical of a large scale experimental systems.
- BUD: The Monologue Speech Assistant was written for
my second cousin Bud Hamilton who had Lou Gehrig's Disease, also known as ALS. The program
is designed to help the speech and motor impaired. It allows the user to build up
sentences using word and phrase pick lists. The program makes use of an advanced adaptive
word prediction algorithm so that the user is presented with the most likely candidates
for the next word in the phrase under construction based on previous usage. The program
operates in the Microsoft Windows 3.1 environment and uses Monologue for Windows 1.5 OEM
for the speech generation. A more detailed description can be found on the Monologue Speech Assistant web page
Windows Utility Software
As you know, Windows is lacking a number of handy elements that could make our lives so
much simpler. Here are some of the more useful utilities that I have written over the
years. All the programs are zipped and are compiled for Windows 3.1. This list will grow
as I take the time to move my utilities to the FTP server and write up instructions on
them.
- The lbcopy utility (version 1.4, 6K bytes)
allows you to copy the text from most windows including listboxes and comboboxes
(but not the file manager window as of yet) with just a couple of mouse clicks.
We have written device drivers and literally hundreds of applets over the years for
everything from changing wallpaper to performing teleteaching over narrow-bandwidth
communications lines (less than 2400 baud). There are very few Windows elements in which
we do not have some level of expertise. We are well positioned to deal with all your
custom software needs in this highly complex and ever growing environment. By taking
advantage of our qualifications you can get a level of software developed that would
normally be nearly impossible to achieve.
