The program uses the standard Windows interface with a title bar, menu bar, and tool bar at the top of the program display screen and the status bar at the bottom.
The program itself has four (4) display areas as identified in the following image:
| Key Field | The Key Field is where you type characters that match some part of the data you are looking for. Only the best matches are then displayed in the Match List. In the example in the above figure, I was looking for restaurants and seafood, but I only entered enough information to make a reasonable match. If you look you will see that no single item in the list matches both keys. If it did then only that item (or items if there were more than one) would have been displayed since that would have been a better match. |
| Match List | This list displays the best, and only the best, matches found based on the content of the Key Field. The list is in no particular order, except when the Edit Sort command is used. Single letters in the Key Field will only match on the first letter in the words displayed in the Match List. Multiletter entries in the Key Field will match those patterns anywhere in the words in the Match List. The match is case insensitive and multiple match criteria (as in the example) are not in any particular order. |
| Selected Field | When an item is selected from the Match List, than that item becomes the Selected Field and the key value associated with that data record is displayed here. If this field is empty, then no record is currently selected. |
| Data Field | When a data record has been selected, and a key value is displayed in the Selected Field, then the data associated with that record are displayed in the Data Field. The data in this field may be edited at any time. |
